It makes me very excited to be able to share news that I have been waiting to announce for some time: the pre-order of my new book, Golosinas Virtuales (Virtual Treats), published by Destino, is now open.
This book is born from a concern that is appearing more and more strongly in families, in classrooms and in public debate: how the digital environment is influencing the way in which children and adolescents discover sexuality, emotional relationships and the construction of desire.
The internet, video games, social media and early access to certain content have profoundly transformed the way in which children and adolescents learn about affection, sexuality and relationships. Today, many young people grow up in a context where information about the body, pleasure, relationships or consent no longer comes mainly from the family or the school, but from screens, algorithms and digital platforms.
THE CHALLENGE OF EDUCATING IN SEXUALITY IN THE DIGITAL AGE
In Golosinas Virtuales (Virtual Treats) I explore precisely this new scenario. What are virtual treats and what relationship do they have with the affective-sexual education of minors?
The book invites reflection on questions that are appearing more and more frequently in our society:
What role do social media and other forms of virtual leisure play today in the construction of the sexual imaginary of adolescents?
How does the consumption of certain content influence their way of understanding relationships?
What challenges does this new digital context pose for affective-sexual education?
How can families and teachers better support these processes?
Throughout the book I try to address these questions from an educational and reflective perspective, connecting experience in the field of affective-sexual education with the cultural changes that the digitalization of everyday life is generating.
Rather than offering simple answers, Golosinas Virtuales aims to open up questions, generate debate and provide tools for understanding and practical resources to help those who live with or work with children and adolescents: families, teachers, education professionals, social educators and all those interested in better understanding the educational challenges of our time.
